Where there's an obstacle, there's a way. Never look at your problems as challenges unable to resolve. Be thankful for your problems, as they're placed upon you to learn from. Thank God for your challenges!

In this episode, I cover a common issue within today's average athlete. Are you familiar with those cliché phrases tossed around by your teammates? If you've heard a specific friend of yours say something like, "gotta get that daily workout in bro" or, "I drink a gallon of water a day, easy"... If this rings a bell, be aware of the talk next time you hear it. Challenge your teammate, see if he/she really lives up to their words. Today, I review three prominent and specific sayings; with examples of staying true to it, as opposed to being "all-talk". If you feel like you can relate to this episode, maybe it's time to work on that authenticity. Let's grow!

Key Points:

  • Reviewing the BEAR results matrix
  • 3 common cliché phrases among athletes
  • Living up to your words, versus being "all-talk"

In this episode, I interview Devin Williams. Among many things, Devin is a basketball trainer, video editor, GoPro and Adidas brand ambassador, and overall creative mastermind. His deep love for basketball allowed him to excel further past his dream of playing in the NBA one day. Failure wasn't an option for Devin. In fact, his craft was discovered "randomly"... Listen to how Devin created the 10,000 Hours movement, and how finding your niche shouldn't always have to be clear from the very beginning. You ready to put the work in? Hour one starts NOW.

Some Questions I Ask:

  • Explain the "10,000 Hours" movement; what does it stand for?
  • What does hard work mean to you?
  • What's your philosophy on passion?
  • Tell us about your first video ever made; how did the brand grow from there?
  • What's your training mindset like?
  • How do you deal with impatient athletes?
  • Describe your train of thoughts, learning process, and self-evaluation
  • Do you have advice for anyone experiencing moments of depression/doubt?
  • What about meditation is key?
  • What book(s) do you recommend for people to read?

What's a challenge you can create for yourself that would scare you today? What's a way you can test your resolve under pressure?

Don't be afraid of looking weak...Instead, be afraid of BEING weak by ignoring challenges and settling low goals.

Get Ya Mind Right.

It's important to realize that life will test you. Obstacles will drop right in front of you to prevent you from reaching your goals and dreams... When that day comes, what will you do? Your top college pick denies your application because you "aren't good enough". Your dream-job rejects your interview, and say that you "need better experience". Your significant other wants a break-up because they feel like "you aren't the one" for them... Whether it be your education, career, or relationship, you need to figure out how to power through the tough parts. Taking responsibility of your current situation, using my "Owning Technique" will teach you to stand your ground, and commit to everlasting growth! Ready to take it up a notch? I thought you would be. Let's go!

Key Points:

  • Using a series of questions for self-reflection
  • Taking FULL responsibility of your actions to accept your current situation

A conversation with Trinidad & Tobago's boxing ambassador and middleweight champion, Daniel Hayes, is my next step to getting nicer with the hands! Training as a boxer takes an incredible amount of endurance, agility, and mental strength (among many other skills of course). It's a whole other world, competing individually as opposed to team play. Daniel breaks down the beginning of his athletic career as he played for many team sports, with the reason for switching up his main focus, to become an absolute monster in the ring. Got your gloves handy? Listen up!

Some Questions I Ask:

  • Why'd you choose to become a boxing? How does it appeal to you?
  • How did you feel without picking up sports after college?
  • How do you stay motivated for long-term goals?
  • Are you calm/focused before your fights?
  • Do you have any pre-fight routines?
  • What is the key, to remain calm under pressure?
  • What were some specific mistakes of yours? How'd you learn from them?
  • What are your most critical daily habits?

How to get in touch with Daniel:

Gratitude is a word that's thrown out there a lot...But if you think it's "corny" or "positive thinking", then you're not doing it right.

Let's be real here... In order to outlast your opponent in whatever it is that you do, you must be better. It's common sense, ain't it? Anyone can compete just as well as you; but what separates you from your opponent, is the HUNGER within. It's that drive... That strength... That, killer instinct! Here's the truth. Everyone has that 'killer instinct' within them, just waiting to be unlocked. How you ask? That's why I'm here. Take notes and listen up. It takes practice to be unstoppable.

Key Points:

  • Knowing what prevents the instinct to become real
  • Understanding the power of belief
  • Preventing the weakness to outweigh our potential
  • 15 tips to bring out the best version of you
  • Why creating an alter-ego is the best move for you
